Brent Private Tenants Rights Group (BPTRG) was set up in 1986 by a
group of private tenants who wanted to help each other with their
housing problems and campaign together for better local services and
better laws to protect private tenants. It is a registered charity and
relies on donations and grants to continue its work.
The Group is still run as a membership organisation, and private
tenants remain at the heart of the organisation. The Group employs a
small team of professional staff, and our Board of Trustees include
both housing professionals and tenant representatives.
We operate a Housing Advice Centre providing specialist legal housing
advice and a Homeplan team helping families to achieve a better life
through advice on housing, education, benefits, training and
employment.
Our campaign group priorities are to improve local government
enforcement of standards in private tenants' homes and to persuade the
Government to introduce better regulation of the private rented sector.
Details of all this and more can be seen on our website www.bptrg.org
Staff members and friends walked 23 miles along the Thames from Battersea to Hampton Court on Sunday 21/2 and felt the effects the following few days. The good news for us is that we completed the walk (in darkness) and that donations can still be made online at www.justgiving.com/Brent-Private-Tenants-Rights-Group or by cash or cheque.
