Story

Piers Morgan thinks athletes who have trained to represent their country are un-British, if they don't sing along to the national anthem.

As if this view isn't repellant enough, he is now attempting to guilt-trip the future gold medal winners. If you don't sing, Great Ormond Street will lose £1k, and it will be all your fault, you selfish athlete you.

No. GOSH will get the money. You cannot hold the athletes to ransom Mr Morgan. You alone do not define Britishness, pride, or patriotism.

By my count we are on 30 people having stepped onto the podium. Mr morgan's donation stands at £16k, so our target is currently £14k. Feel free to correct me if I have counted wrong, you can leave a message with your donation ;) Let's go!

06/08/12 update: 2 more gold medals today, with 5 people on the podium. 3 didn't sing. So the target is now up to £17k.

07/08/12 update: 4 more gold medals today from 6 amazing British athletes who we should all be proud of. The 3 dressage gold medal winners all chose to sing along, with Hoy Trott and Brownlee all overcome by emotion and so either choosing not to sing or being unable to. Well done to all 6 of you, you're doing us proud! £3,000 more added to the target.

08/08/2012: no gold medals today, hard luck Team GB, keep trying and you're ALL doing us proud whether you win medals or not!

09/08/2012: Two wins today, 1 from the individual dressage and one from women's boxing (an emotional moment in history right there...) Neither athlete sang the anthem on the podium, so £2k more added to the total, which unfortunately takes us back down to 5%. Let's see if we can get back up to 6% today. (also, if Piers Morgan thinks Adams isn't patriotic enough, I'd like to see her say it to her face!)
