Richard, Katie, Alice, Adam, Stuart and Bronwyn ("Team Bluefin") are hoping to swim the channel in the manner of Cpt Webb at some point between 6 and 11 of July, although we wont be wearing belted flannels and sporting a big moustache, and there will be 6 of us, which will all help.
The channel is 19 nautical miles (35k) and the Channel Swimming Association which we have joined for the occasion, reliably informs us that it is likely to take between 10 and 20 hours, and our biggest problem is likely to be coping with the cold, and er…vomiting.
We are hoping if we do this in aid of the Marine Conservation Society it will have the karmic effect of warding off sharks and the like. They also do sterling work cleaning up beaches and conserving marine wildlife (like Bluefin Tuna which btw is endangered and noone should be eating). Any donations no matter how piffling would be very gratefully received and in exchange please expect some comedy photos of vomiting and cake-related strops.
