There are thousands of working animals and communities around the world who lack access to fresh water. These animals often work long days in soaring temperatures –leading to heat stress as well as dehydration. 

Your gift to the Water Project could help us fund our work in
Merab Azenet Woreda, SNNPR Region of Ethiopia.

At the moment, these working animals and their owners have to travel a minimum of three hours to access water. This is exhausting for the
working animals who then have to carry the water back in parching conditions. With your support, our aim is to minimise the journey to one hour’s walking distance, as well as to increase the availability of drinking water for working animals and their owners. Not only will the project alleviate the suffering of working animals who are overloaded and overworked, it will also reduce the likelihood of waterborne diseases, making a life-saving difference to working animals and to the local population.

Project.

Your gift could help the construction of a water supply system that will be managed by Brooke and one of our local partners. As well as benefitting the local community, the project will make a lasting difference to 2,250 pack donkeys, 988 riding and pack horses, and 27 riding mules – that’s an amazing total of 3,265 working animals
