As some parts of Pakistan start the clean up operation, the scale of the damage is becoming more apparent. Some reports cite more than 5,000 miles of road and rail destroyed, 1,000 bridges washed away, 7,000 schools destroyed and over 23% of the land under water. Over 17 million people are still affected, and many of them will be dependent upon aid for years to come.

HF has today started distributing thousands of gift packs to young children. For the Muslim children, this will be just in time for their festival of Eid, for the Christian and Hindu children, this will serve as a timely gift to cheer them up in these difficult times. The gift pack includes toys and games to encourage group play as these children have had nothing to do for weeks.
HF is running medical camps in the Punjab and the North-West. The medical team is dealing with minor injuries and the onset of disease. The most recent camps have been run in the Districts of Rajanpur in southern Punjab, and Ghazir and Chatoor Khand in Gilgit Baltistan. It took our team over 24 hours to reach the villages in Ghazir but the response showed the desperate need of the people. The local magistrate remarked:
“Quite a few organizations have been here but these are by far the best camps ever. Your selfless sacrifice is truly admirable.”
So far in 38 camps, our team has helped 8,083 patients. In total, so far HF has assisted 29,783 people in Pakistan.
