Cumbria's Three Peaks Ladder Challenge
For the first time in nearly a decade Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service has recruited new whole time firefighters.
As the recruits who are now nearing the end of the 2017 course, we've set ourselves a challenge to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity.
We will be climbing - using the service's 12 metre ladder - Cumbria's three highest peaks: Scafell Pike, Scafell and Helvellyn. A total of 2892 metres. We'll be doing this at 1pm on Tuesday, 23 May at the Old Fire Station in Rickergate, Carlisle.
As well as our ladder challenge there will be a range of family-friendly activities.
The Fire Fighters Charity provides support to firefighters and their families with physical and mental health services, helping over 5000 beneficiaries every year.
For the last 14 weeks the charity's service at Jubilee House in Eamont Bridge has housed and fed us. While this challenge is an opportunity to raise money as a thank you from us to them, it is really about allowing the charity to continue to support firefighters when they need it most.
