Every year, hundreds of children in Scotland suffer from sexual abuse or harm. Last year, CHILDREN 1ST worked with more than 200 children, young people and their families who were impacted by abuse.

We recently launched our See. Hear. Speak. Act on sexual abuse campaign because we believe it’s everybody’s responsibility to protect children. This campaign encourages people to open their eyes, listen to children and help them speak up when things are wrong.

As well as raising awareness we give people the skills and confidence to recognise the signs of abuse and to do something to help children. And we provide the free, confidential helpline ParentLine Scotland (08000 28 22 33) for anyone with a worry about a child.

In Scotland there are not enough services to support children – and families – to recover from the trauma of sexual abuse. The waiting list for our abuse and trauma recovery work is one of the longest. If we are to support more children, we need to raise more funds.

£15 pays for a ParentLine Scotland call taker to give one hour’s advice.

£25 allows a child to have a one-to-one play session with a play therapist for one week.

£60 allows children who have suffered abuse to attend three story-telling sessions to help them cope with the difficulties they’ve experienced.

If you can help us hit our £5,000 target, this would pay for 200 children to benefit from our abuse and trauma recovery services.
