Story
"It was on my birthday that the enormity of the tragedy began to unfold before us. And when we were alone the young, noble warrior, Louis, said to me “Dad, this is not a winnable war”. I know, I said but we must stay strong and have hope. He just gave me a huge hug." Louis died on Christmas Eve 2009 after an 8-month battle with leukaemia.
During that time we had to be with Louis at the Bristol Children's Hospital which is the centre for treating children with leukaemia in the south west of England. CLIC Sargent provided us with accommodation allowing a semblance of normal life during those times in Bristol. Without this we faced huge daily commuting costs from Exeter or finding alternative paid accommodation.
