Story
On September 3rd and 4th, 2019, Hurricane Dorian made a direct hit on the North Western islands of Abaco and Grand Bahamas Islands. Entire communities and medical facilities have been destroyed or severely damaged. An undetermined number of people have died, and hundreds are currently homeless. To make matters worse, hospital services are non-existent.
AOE, Dry Eye Coach, The University of Bahamas and many other concerned eye care professionals have joined hands to reach out for support from the ECPs in Canada and USA to help in these difficult
times of disaster and destruction.
The University of Bahamas, under the stewardship of Dr. John Rodgers, an Ophthalmologist and graduate of the University of Toronto, plans to BUILD at least two “Eye Vans” to provide mobile care
in the absence of bricks and mortar facilities.
