Story

To donate please text dazc85 and the amount to 70070

Darren was diagnosed with ewings sacarma (bone cancer) this was around the time of his 18th birthday in febuary 2003. He was treated at the teenage cancer trust unit at UCLH london. He was told he was in remission in january 2004 and by june his cancer had returned. He had to be transferred to a london heart hospital to have ribs removed but unfortunately by the end of august 2004 Darren and his family were told the  devastating news that there was nothing more that could be done. He had already had several rounds of chemotherapy, a high dose course and then radiotherapy after he was diagnosed as being terminal to keep him comfortable.

Darren lost his battle and fell asleep with his family and his girlfriend by his side on the 29th of september.

As its approaching 10 years since Darren was taken from us, some of his family members are doing some events to raise money in his memory and to help the trust continue supporting teenagers and their family's through this difficult time and to give teenagers the opportunity to do things they otherwise might not have the opportunity to do.

I am having my head shaved and donating my hair to teenage cancer trust to be made into a wig for a teenager not only battling with cancer but loosing their hair too.

When i tell people i am shaving my head, they say "thats brave" but im not the brave one, Darren was. No matter what he was told, what he was feeling or what was happening to him, he took it on the chin and kept smiling. He was a brave and courageous young man that made so many family and friends look at life differently. When i talk about him, its with pride. He brought so many lovely memories in the short 19 years of his life.

Treasured memories of Darren Clarke, love and miss you always. Auntie sue x

Ps, hope you are proud of me like i am of you.

There are so many teenagers now and in the future that can benefit from your donation.

My head shave is happening on 24th of August this year at the link festival at harlow town park in essex.

Thanking you in advance for your support.
