Story
Hello, and thank you for visiting our sponsorship page!
This year Sharon and I are under taking the West Highland Way, in aid of Alzheimers Scotland.
The west Highland way is a 96 mile (what are we thinking?) walk, starting from Milngavie and ending in Fort William. Just to make it even harder, since we are gluttons for punishment, we are doing it the hard way! We will be carrying all out own equipment, tents ETC and not using hotels at all! In addition we are taking two hairy dogs. (not refering to Kevin and Wendy, who are also walking with us. To sponsor them visit www.justgiving.com/kevinwendy). We are doing this between the 30th August 2010 - 5th September 2010.
So why are we putting ourselfs through this - cause we are mad! But also to raise money for a cause close to both of us. Alzheimer Scotland helps people with dementia, their carers and families. Their members include carers, relatives, people with dementia, professionals, groups and organisations.
They provide the national Dementia Helpline, a website (www.alzscot.org) and local services all over Scotland for people with dementia and their carers. Their local services may include:
- day centres
- home support
- drop-in centres
- support groups
- carer education
- one-to-one support
- welfare rights
- information and advice
We think this a valuable and worth while service - and we hope you do to! So please be generous! We will add pictures etc as we train, plan and eventually go, and hope you will visit again to see our progress.
Thank you so much!
Carol-Anne and Sharon
