Story

Thank you for Visting my Just Giving page!

My little Brother Austin is affected by Autism. Austin has been diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome (part of Autism spectrum disorder) since the age of four, so I really hold this charity close to my heart. He will always struggle to fit into society as a normal, functioning human being. He will never look at the world quite the way we know it. The world will never look at him and accept him easily because of his eccentric nature, being constantly teased by individuals that just don’t understand. I  sincerely want to help families that have members like my brother to have an easier time with their lives living with Autism.
Autism is not a disease, or something life threatening. There are many levels of Autism, fortunately Austin is highly functioning which means he can talk, read, and write. Autism doesn’t mean you lack intelligence, you may obsess, and excel in areas of particular interest, for example, numbers or movies. People with Autism may find it hard to look at themselves in mirrors or make long eye contact with you. Someone with Autism could blatantly tell you how they feel about you, something, someone, or a situation. The best example I could give you would be Dustin Hoffman’s character in the film Rain Man.
Families affted by Autism in Scotland will get a chance to have a break and get support from the stress of caring for an individual who has Autism. Although some may be highly functioning others need help and attention most of the the time.

Thank you for your Donation and being more aware,

Peace and Love,

Caroline
