Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I had hoped to run the London Marathon in 2018, but never got round to sorting out a place, then when I lost my Dad in early April, I realised 2018 was not the year for me anyway, I would not have been strong enough to have taken on the challenge even if I'd had a place. Given time to reflect, "life is too short". For this reason I am taking on the challenge in 2019, I know it'll be an emotional rollercoaster and getting to the start line will be hard, but he'll be with me every step of the way and I know he'd be proud when I receive my London Marathon medal.
I wanted to raise funds for a charity that would benefit many people and the services St. John Ambulance offer fits this perfectly.
When I join the start line of the marathon I can guarantee there will be medical support along the way, should I or any of the other 40,000 runners joining me need it. The medical support they offer at these events was required in July 2018, when I crashed while racing and needed roadside medical attention. They are an essential part of any and every event.
Educating and training is another key part of the services they offer, so even when a St. John volunteer isn't close by, one of the may people they have trained through Work based training or even school education can step in and offer necessary care.
Supporting the emergency services, responding to local incidents or major accidents, they are always on hand in a volunteer capacity.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
