This will be the fifth time Catherine has entered the Great Manchester 10k Run. She is aiming to finish as close to 55 minutes as possible, which is a big ask as her fastest ever time (6 years and 2 children ago!) was 56 minutes dead. Yikes. The run takes place on Sunday 16 May 2010 and will for the first time this year be televised live on BBC2 from 10am, so you might even see a red-faced, exhausted looking Catherine on telly!
Imogen, who has just turned 5, is doing the Mini Manchester Run the day before, so Saturday 15 May. She will be running 1.5k and doesn't have a particular target finish time in mind, although she has done some training!
We are both running for a Manchester-based charity called the Wood Street Mission, which was Imogen's choice. They help local children and families who are affected by poverty. They say that £25 is enough to provide practical help to one child for a year, and £90 would help an entire family for a year. Their website address, should you be interested in learning more, is www.woodstreetmission.org.uk
We would like to raise as much as possible for this worthy cause and will be grateful for any donations you are able to make. We are conscious that there are always a few of these requests floating around and apologise if any of you feel pestered by this one.
Thank you
Catherine and Imogen Burtinshaw
