We support hospitals across Leicester to equip our hospitals beyond NHS standards
Story
I have decided to
take part in the New York City Marathon on Sunday 1st November this year -
notice that I didn't say run!
I guess that you may
be thinking - why? - well, as well as providing a goal to work towards, I have
decided to raise money for the Leicester Royal Infirmary Intensive Care Unit. Most of you may know that they provided outstanding care for my sister Jayne in
her last few days of her life last December. They were also very skilled at the
care that they provided us as a family through that very difficult time. It
makes sense to me to do something positive to give something back to them -
hence the NYCM.
Given this, I have
chosen to buy a package: which includes airfare, hotel, entrance fees etc - in
fact everything. I will pay for this, and so all money donated to this
cause will go straight to the Intensive Care Unit. I will be very grateful for
any contributions, especially given our credit crunch and current
economic climate.I am now one third of the way through my preparation and am up to 14 mile trots - so fingers crossed!
