Story

My partner Lon and I will both be skydiving on August 13th to raise money for Defying Dementia, a charity that is very close to my heart.

This year my father lost his battle with cancer. Dad was a professor of Neuroscience at Lancaster university and he spent many years researching neurodegenerative diseases. Him and the team around him developed a drug that blocks the formation of "senile plaques" on the brain which lead to Alzheimers.

Defying Dementia is a charity set up by the university to raise money to do further research into this drug. Despite MAC Clinical Research being prepared to progress this treatment towards human clinical trials, there are still a lot of experiments that need to take part in the laboratory first.

Dad had a huge part to play in the creation of this charity and I thought it would be an amazing tribute to him if Lon and I could both jump out of a plane to raise money for something that he spent many years working on.

We have said the goal is £1000. However, we know that we can raise even more than that with your help and support. We would like to raise as much money as possible for this incredible cause, so please give as little or as much as you can afford. Plus, it's Lon's 30th birthday on the day we are jumping, which is even more reason to donate!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
