We take humanitarian aid to those in need to improve lives and help the vulnerable

Story

Update!
I am back! After an amazing and successful journey that had its moments....
Why not read about them in our online diary and reports at -

http://www.hopeandaiddirect.org.uk/Winter09/index.html

It's not too late to give support  - either on my page or by becoming involved with your regional branch, knitting, donating goods.... the possibilities are endless! After all - plans will soon start being made for trips in 2010....
As below, please email me if you would like any further information.
Thanks

Last October I joined Hope and Aid Direct on their Autumn convoy. It was an interesting and worthwhile trip delivering aid that was so obviously desperately needed. I am heading back this year - why? Let me tell you...
This Charity has it sussed - the Aid goes just where it should. I had no doubt that those receiving aid really needed it. Hope and Aid Direct has such obvious credibility "in country" as shown by their partnership and work with the Mother Teresa Society, their co-operation with the Kosovo Government, its various Statutory Organisations and the KFOR army, who work together to ensure deliveries are made safely and effectively. Let me share a few statistics with you from their Easter trip...
The team - 21 drivers for 7 x 7.5 ton, 1 x 18 ton and 2 x 40 ton lorries plus 10 airborne crew and one overland member, 5/6 Eulex Police from UK, plus support from Irish, Belgian and Danish KFOR and support from at least another 30 from MTS/UNHCR/Red Cross and others. Distributing to 1351 families equating to 6047 individuals plus drops to 13 schools equating to 4421 children,
Re-equiping the full Laundry at Shtimlje (Mental Health Institution for Children and Adults) with 4 commercial washing machines and 4 commercial drying machines, and a washing machine and tumble dryer in the Children’s Home.
Delivery of 4 pallets of medical equipment to establish an ambulance ‘immediate life-saving response’ capability in Kosovo

Given the chance to join the aircrew again this October to help with this excellent work - how could I turn down the opportunity?
Many good friends and family supported me last time, for which I am very grateful. If you wish to support me this time then that would be wonderful and would be much appreciated.
Please visit the Charity web page www.hopeandaiddirect.org.uk as there are many ways to support this excellent work instead of or as well as financial sponsorship of a team member. There is also a link on this page to one of our video's.
Thank you for taking the time to read my page! Please email me at cewhelan@yahoo.co.uk - marking the subject line Kosovo (so I don't think it's spam) if you would like any further information.
