We fight childhood liver disease to help every life affected

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In June 2010 a number of Centrol employees are tackling the National Three Peaks. The challenge is mountain edurance where we will climb the highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales in a 24 hour period. The challenge involves 26 miles of walking with a total travel of 475 miles.

This is all in aid of the Childrens Liver Disease Foundation and here is our reason why.

Daniel was born in 2004 with a rare and life threating liver disease - Biliary atresia, he underwent hours of major surgery at just 7 weeks old with a procedure called the Kasai. Years of follow up hospital appointments and blood tests followed and we as a family managed to maintain a normal (ish...) life. At the end of last year Daniel was having "routine" blood tests when it was discovered that some of his numbers where not as they should be...the investigating began and in December 2009 Daniel was Diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia  the rare form of childhood Leukemia. He has now undergone 3 intensive rounds of chemotherepy and the Leukemia is now at 10% therefore more Chemo is needed to achieve remission. Daniel is an amazing character and throughout his treatment has been laughing and joking with nurses and doctors alike, he is strong willed and is determined to be here for years to come.

No one knows what the future holds for them and this is certainly the case for Daniel, but we feel that by raising awarness and funds for the childrens liver disease foundation we can make a difference to Daniel and children like him.
