Thank you for finding your way to my page!
Before you dig deep and donate, let me give you a quick low down of why I have decided to do something I never dreamed I would and how your money is going to help.
To be honest it’s not really sunk in that in a matter of months I will be pounding over 13 miles of Brighton’s streets. The decision to sign up was in all honesty, quick and impulsive. For some crazy reason the idea of combining the training with quitting smoking as a double challenge really appealed. Even more so when I realised I could raise money at the same time for an inspirational service that my organisation provides.
This is undeniably a personal challenge…not long ago running for a bus would have been! It’s going to be hard. Really hard! But I know that is what will make it so great and rewarding.
I found this quote online. I don’t know who this Arthur bloke is but I like it!
“I run because it's so symbolic of life. You have to drive yourself to overcome the obstacles. You might feel that you can't. But then you find your inner strength, and realize you're capable of so much more than you thought.” – Arthur Blank
Anyway this isn’t just about me exercising mental will and leg power. The money you are about to give will be helping to support the work of BHT’s Hastings Young People’s Service (YPS). This fantastic project provides secure accommodation for vulnerable 16 to 25 year olds and helps them learn and develop the life skills they need to move on to independent living. Hastings is one of the most deprived areas in the UK and there is a real need to invest in the well-being of young people there.
Breaking the cycle of deprivation and improving the lives of young people in this area is a huge feat and seemingly impossible when you consider all the other factors involved…whether it is unemployment, mental ill health, drugs, crime etc. The work of Hastings YPS is vital. It provides support and opportunities for young people that at a time like now are not easy to come by.
