Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
On June 7th, I'm cycling one of the UK's toughest challenges - the Wiggle Dragon Ride in Wales. It's at least 226km of fearsome terrain and maybe 302km depending on which course I complete. It includes ~3500m of climbing. I'm hoping to complete it in 10-15 hours without a break.
I'm cycling in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) and have teamed up with friends in Rutland, one of whom himself has recently been diagnosed with MNDA, who are holding a cycling and running event, Warriors At The Water on June 14th. All the funds that we raise are going to researching a cure for the disease and to support people living with Motor Neurone Disease (also known as ALS).
So the story is that I entered the 302km course, but work has got in the way and training has not been quite what was desired. So I'm going to set my sights on a slightly lower but nonetheless stretching target....and if I can shoot for the 302km course on the day, I will. Perhaps the opportunity for a bonus target?!
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.
MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. However, not all symptoms necessarily happen to everyone and it is unlikely they will alldevelop at the same time, or in any specific order.
I appreciate your generosity in helping us to fight back against this disease.
50% of funds raised will go to Research, 50% to support people living with MND (30% Lincolnshire Group, 10% Cambridgeshire, 10% Rutland and Leicestershire)
