Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page - much appreciated! I have decided to run the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon on behalf of the domestic violence charity Refuge. Rufuge is here because:
Refuge's aim is to provide a range of services and a voice against domestic violence for abused women and children. Every woman and child experiencing domestic violence has different needs - there is no single package of services to meet those needs, no 'one size fits all'. Instead Refuge offers a range of services which increases women’s choices and gives them access to professional support whatever their situation.
They aim to achieve their mission by:
- Provision: providing high quality services to women and children – such as a 24-hour National Domestic Violence Freephone Helpline, emergency accomodation and refuges, counselling, outreach services, culturally specific services
- Prevention: helping prevent domestic violence through campaigning, education, training and research. We work in partnership with other agencies to raise awareness of domestic violence, its causes and solutions.
- Protection: advocating changes, improvements and the implementation of legislation and encouraging other agencies to develop best practice services and consistent approaches to meet the needs of women and children experiencing domestic violence.
I know that there have been lots of people doing wonderful things for charity recently but please dig deep and donate to this worthwhile cause. I am starting to ask now so that there are are a few pay cheques between me asking and the race! (Just think if you gave £1 a month that would be £5 by the time it was race day)
