Story
In April 2018, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, we lost our beloved Mum, Nan and Great Nan, Hazel Chorley. The tragic thing about Alzheimer’s (and all other forms of dementia) is that you lose your loved one very gradually over what can be a long period of time, and sadly they lose you too. It’s a cruel illness- the number one cause of death in the UK- and there is currently no cure. But it IS a disease and that means a cure CAN be found.
One thing Alzheimer’s did not take away from our Hazel was her spirit. She kept that until her very last breath and it lives on now in her family. It’s with that spirit and our love for such an amazing woman that we have decided to do this challenge.
A team of us will be climbing Mount Snowdon by night, with some supporting events in the run-up to the big trek. We haven’t done anything like this before and we won’t be doing it again so we would love to make this worthwhile and raise some serious cash!
With the backing of Alf and the rest of the family, who are also contributing to the fundraising efforts behind the scenes, we want to help the Alzheimer’s Society in the incredible work they do for dementia sufferers, and in the hope of ultimately finding a cure for this heartbreaking disease.
Thank you for your support x
