Story
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We (Chris and Hannah - 'Team Cartmell') have signed up to run the Great North Run on behalf of Mencap. We have five months in which to shed our current lives full of alcohol and food excess and become lean mean running machines, that has to be worth a few quid!
We believe Mencap, as the voice of learning disability, is a great charity. Everyday it supports thousands of parents, carers and people with a learning disability to lead a full and valued life. They work to change laws and services, challenge prejudice and directly support thousands of people to live their lives as they choose. It is also a charity which is very close to the heart of the Cartmell family. Hannah has worked for Mencap and our father is the Vice Chair of trustees for our local Mencap Society back home in Cumbria. Our direct experience with the charity has made us aware of the fantastic work they do both locally and nationally and has inspired us to get off our bums and shed some blood, sweat and tears (literally) to raise some money to support them.
All of the money raised will go directly to Mencap to support people with learning disabilities and their families/ carers. So please dig deep and donate now to help us reach our £500 target!
P.S If you're still not convinced we have included a picture of Chris with our baby nephew to pull at your heartstrings!
