In September 2010 I will be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world and the highest peak in Africa, towering into the clouds at 5895m (19340 ft).

Whilst climbing this mountain is something I have always wanted to do for myself, I would also like to raise some money for a charity which I feel does not receive much support. The WWF (World Wildlife Fund) works tirelessly to protect threatened species all around the world, and increasingly the often fragile habitats in which the many threatened species live. Protecting important habitats such as the world’s rainforests is not only important for the many thousands of species they support, but also for the survival of human kind. 

As you may know, the rainforests absorb much of the carbon dioxide we produce, and provide the much needed oxygen with which we would not otherwise survive on this planet. It really is as simple as that, and it is through the tireless work of charities such as the WWF that such important areas of the world can continue to be protected.

I hope my slightly rambling information doesn't put you off donating. Any amount you can give would be fantastic and you can rest assured that it will be spent on a worthwhile cause, a cause which we all share.
