Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When I heard the startling fact that every day 6 teenagers hear the words 'you have cancer' I couldn't believe it. Being a teenager was hard enough without having to cope with such terrifying news. I found myself asking how would I have coped if such a thing had happened to me and every time remembered how conscious I felt as a teenager leaving the house with a few spots or a dodgy pair of trainers. It pales in relation to what some teenagers go through so I felt the time was right to do my bit and raise some money for a truly needing cause.
Teenage Cancer trust funds specialist teenage units in hospitals so that teenager's aren't left in wards with young kids or the elderly. In short teenage cancer trust allows teenagers to be teenagers despite their illness. I think the job they do is amazing and they genuinely change lives so I was eager to do my bit for them.
So I spent some time looking through what I could do to raise money and found myself strangely drawn to a 9 day trek of the . The trek takes begins in Marrakech and involves 5-6 hours trekking across the desert per day. It sounded amazing; sleeping in a tent in the desert, cooking over a fire every night and taking in some incredible sights along the way so I booked it there and then.
I was all excited and ready to go until I made the mistake of watching the Bear Grylls Sahara special! I think the last straw, after the numerous encounters with snakes and killer insects, was where he gutted and slept in a camel! Hopefully this wont be expected of me on this trek.
But seriously I can't wait for this challenge and I hope you will help me to raise as much as possible for such a great cause.
Thanks
Chris
