Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This will be my 4th and longest Ultra to date. A 100 miler in under 34 hours represents a significant step up from previous races of 60 miles. Your support will help me through the inevitable challenge of mind, body and soul as unchartered distance is tackled. Training has been punishing at times since January, including weekly 20+ milers and a testing 65 mile St Cuthbrrt's Way Ultra in July.

The village Church in Rathmell is a very worthy cause since our PCC are trying to raise £20,000 to add to a grant in order to enable urgent and essential works to be carried out to save the lovely listed building and ensure its functioning for future generations.

Please help with whatever you can.

Many thanks

Chris

About the charity

HOLY TRINITY RESTORATION APPEAL Holy Trinity is a Church of England Church within the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales. The Church provides a place of worship for the two rural communities of Rathmell and Wigglesworth. The Church is an important part of the local heritage, which has been central to the local communities for nearly 200 years. The Church is now at serious risk due to the ingress of water through the roof, leaking flashings and gutters casing damage to both the fabric and contents of the building. The Parochial Church Council of Holy Trinity Church Rathmell, has received initial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund (hlf), ‘Grants for Places of Worship’ for a major programme of repair to the fabric of this important centre of Rathmell village life. The project aims to strip, repair, insulate and re-slate the roof, repair some of the nationally important stained glass windows and replace the ageing and inefficient heating system. The total cost of the project is £201,000. The Heritage Lottery Grant is very generous but the PCC is still required to contribute in excess of £15,000 raised through fundraising and donations. Please show your support by donating to our restoration appeal. Whatever the size of your donation it will be greatly appreciated.
