Story
As most of you who visit this page will know, I'm housemaster of Smythe House at Tonbridge School and have been climbing mountains since I was about ten years old.
Partly to celebrate turning 50 on the 4th. July, 2010, I have decided to add about 40 mountains to my ticked list of Munros (Scottish mountains over 3,000 feet) by walking from Mallaig to Stonehaven alone and unsupported later in the same month. As planned, the walk is some 220 miles long, involves about 80,000 feet of ascent and will take two weeks.
It seems logical to use the walk to raise some funds for the Smythe House Foundation Award. This award has been set up to fund places in Smythe for boys from relatively disadvantaged backgrounds who would not otherwise be able to afford to come to the school. The cause seems a worthwhile one to me and I commend it to you - our first Foundation Scholar is due to arrive in the house in September, 2011.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe with this organisation – it has undertaken never to sell them on or to send you (or anyone else) unwanted emails. Once you donate, it will send your money directly to the Foundation and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. It is, therefore, a highly efficient way to donate.
