Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.

Dad sadly passed away on 3rd February '21, aged 64, following a long and courageous battle with bowel cancer. As a passionate football man, having played semi pro and later coaching youth prospects, as well as being a lifelong Ipswich Town fan, we are raising money for the Bobby Moore Fund.

Set up in memory of the former England world cup winning captain, Bobby Moore, they are an excellent charity who have been carrying out incredible work for many years, increasing research efforts and raising the awareness of this horrible disease.

Some eye-opening facts:

- Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK.

- On average, in the UK, 45 people per day die from the disease.

- There are over 42,000 new cases per year in the UK.

- It is crucial that it is detected early. If it is, 9 out of 10 people will survive at least 5 years.

Dad did a lot for charities himself during his life, including voluntary work with East Anglian Air Ambulance and Help for Heroes. In addition to Cancer Research UK, his wish was also for donations to be made to the British Heart Foundation, please contact us if you would prefer to make the donation there.

As a family, we hugely appreciate each and every donation made. Thank you in advance!
