I am volunteering on Africa Mercy, the world's largest non-governmental floating hospital for three months as a ‘Hostess’. I will be part of a team with the responsibility for welcoming arriving crew and guests and hosting  special events on board the vessel.

Where am I Going?

Senegal, West Africa. Senegal is a French speaking country on Africa’s west coast with a rich French colonial heritage and many natural attractions.  The capital is Dakar which is where Africa Mercy will be berthed for 12 months.

Who are Mercy Ships?

Mercy Ships is a faith-based international development organisation that deploys hospital ships to some of the poorest countries in the world, delivering vital, free healthcare to people in desperate need. In addition, they leave a legacy by training medical personnel in their field of expertise and provide local people with skills by employing them in certain areas on the vessel.

Why AM I Going?

In obedience to the word of God and I have always wanted to work with an organisation like Mercy Ships.  I am grateful for this amazing opportunity with the support of the UK Hydrographic Office, who have granted me unpaid leave of absence to serve those in desperate need of life changing surgical procedures. 

I know there will be sacrifices on my part and challenges ahead, but not being afraid of change or hard work, I am excited and look forward to serving others.

Your support will be gratefully welcomed and received, allowing me to contribute to this amazing work being done on board Africa Mercy, providing surgeries to those in need, and leaving a legacy for the people of Senegal.  

By giving, you’re helping Mercy Ships deploy a hospitality team that in turn support the medical staff who provide surgical assistance to those who cannot afford it.
