St Catherine’s Hospice is a charity dedicated to providing specialised end of life care and support to local people, their families, friends and carers.

Last year the company I work for (Varian Medical Systems) entered a team in the Crawley Dragon Boat festival, which raised money for St Catherine's hospice. I volunteered along with several others to be in the team. It was a great day even though we didn't do so well in the races. 

It was during this time I found out that St Catherine's Hospice enter a team for the London marathon to raise funds. I contacted them and  was very happy when they offered me a Gold Bond place.

Although I'm not usually a runner, as it is hard to eat pies and run at the same time, it was something I always wanted to do. So, since last summer I've been slowly building up the miles with my training runs. So far the training is going well and I feel quite confident the two pieces of string that are my legs will get me to the finish. 

If you want to come along and cheer me on, please do. Just don't throw any pies or chocolate bars at me, as I can't run and eat at the same time (yet). Maybe I could make that my next goal?
