Following our very enjoyable and successful Camino de Santiago trek in Autumn 2006, in September this year we (and 23 great friends and supporters) will be walking 100 km in the Cevennes region of France. We will be following part of the epic journey Robert Louis Stevenson took in 1878 and our aim is again to raise money for the Olivia Hodson Fellowship Fund.
As many of you will know, in 1996 we founded the Olivia Hodson Fellowship Fund in memory of our daughter Olivia, who was two and a half years old when she died in April 1996 from a malignant germ cell tumour. The OHFF was set up to support projects that would help other sick children and their families in the future.
Over the last 12 years, thanks to the generous support of many friends and family, the fund has raised more than £900,000 to support projects and staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the neighbouring Institute of Child Health. The fund has supported a wide range of initiatives including clinical research projects, parental support programmes and palliative care and pain relief. The work funded has often been in areas that have been unable to access larger grant-giving organisations. More details are available on www.ohcf.org.
We very much appreciate all of the support we've received for the OHFF in the past and would be grateful for your sponsorship on this trek. We will continue to work hard to ensure that all of the funds raised will be used to help improve the treatment and cures for children with cancer.
If you would like to support us, please either send a cheque made payable to - 'GOSHCC - Olivia Hodson Cancer Fund' or donate online through JustGiving.com.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Christiane and Alan Hodson
