We breed and train guide dogs to give blind people freedom and mobility

Story

Chris and I met each other many years ago through our mutual love of Triumphs (as members of the Triumph Sports Six Club - which at that time only catered for cars built on the Herald chassis) and since then our families have become firm friends.  We have finally had the opportunity of doing this run, which is not a race, but involves driving 2,000 miles around Britain, in one weekend, in my 1973 Magenta GT6.  My wife will be tracking us on 'Find my Friends' and hopefully updating the site and Facebook.

The route takes us from Knebworth on the evening of 7 October 2016 to John O'Groats then to Lands End and back to Knebworth in 48 hours!  I even hope to get a few minutes 'plane spotting in with one of the first official stops being at Edinburgh Airport (would be rude not to) - might be quiet as it will be at 3am on Saturday morning.  We plan to spot Nessie sometime on Saturday afternoon on our way back down south. We will have a camera at the ready for her as I'm sure she if she knew she would put in an appearance just to see a parade of Triumphs pass her.  However, we hope that we don't come across  the Beast of Bodmin very early on Sunday morning!

We will be going on many different types of road, with only a few short stretches on motorways and in order to get to Knebworth on time we will be doing an average of just 40mph.  This is not an event for boy racers.

Please help us raise money for this worthy charity which gives so many people without sight the independence which Chris and I take so much for granted.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
