Story

As part of Barnsley Council's face covering campaign, we’ve set up this Just Giving page for people to donate to the Barnsley Hospital Charity if they wish to make a donation after receiving one of our free face coverings.

We've been working to provide residents with free face coverings sewn by the amazing group of volunteers. We're also sharing how people can make their own at home using old t-shirts as well as materials and hair ties, take a look at the tutorials on YouTube at bit.ly/3cxi9iY.

Many recipients of our face coverings expressed that they would like to make a contribution after receiving one free of charge. We're asking those people to make a donation to Barnsley Hospital instead as a thank you for the fantastic work they've done to keep Barnsley safe and well.

The council and Barnsley CVS are working with local volunteers to create community face coverings for residents. We've purchased materials and distributed these to the many sewers across the borough. It's really important that everyone wears these coverings when in enclosed public places to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in our communities. It's really important that people do this while still observing social distancing guidance and maintaining good hand hygiene.
