Story

Well, I did it!  I completed the challenge in 10 hours, with a yomp through Horton in Ribblesdale at the end to finish in this amazing time.  Conditions were nearly perfect, 14 degrees at 5.30am rising to 19 degrees at 5pm.  The summit of Pen y Ghent was shrouded in mist during my ascent, but from then on it was sunny spells all the way.  The feeling of euphoria on reaching the top of Ingleborough having already completed Pen y Ghent and Whernside was amazing and the 5 mile walk downhill to the finish seemed like a gentle stroll!

Thanks in part must go to you, knowing you had sponsored me gave me an added incentive to complete the challenge.  The Marie Curie volunteers added to the great atmosphere that there was, being greeted by a gorilla at the summit of Pen y Ghent and Mexican musicians at Ribblehead added to the carnival feel of the day.  Over £50,000 was raised on the day for Marie Curie Cancer Care, an amazing total that will help them continue with their great work.  For further details about Marie Curie, the work they do and events in your area please visit www.mariecurie.org.uk.

Once again, a great big thank you for supporting me

Thanks for supporting my Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.  I've never done anything like this before but I'm hoping that a few weeks training and a day's hard slog will raise much needed funds to support Marie Curie in their work.  They need to raise £10,000 every hour of every day to fund the work that they do.

If you don't know what the Three Peaks Challenge involves, you climb the three peaks of Pen y Ghent (2,273ft), Whernside (2,414ft) and Ingleborough (2,737ft) in the Yorkshire Dales.  The total distance is over 25 miles, and ideally you should aim to complete it within 12 hours.  My target is just to finish!

Watch this site to follow my progress and to see how long it takes me to complete the challenge.

A big thank you again for your support - don't forget to add Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer!
