Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Please take a minute to read my story and the reasons for taking part in this challenge.

As you will probably know Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital is a world renowned hospital which provides vital care and treatment for very poorly children.

I have a personal link to the hospital as they have treated my own daughter. Neve is nearly 3 years old and has suffered with Epilepsy since she was 9 months old.

Neve's seizures got progressively worse, no medication was helping her and she was having seizures everyday, some days as many as 40. An MRI scan last year found a brain tumour in her left temporal lobe and we were referred to GOSH to see if this could be removed. This area of the brain can be difficult to operate on.

After lots of tests and meetings with the Epilepsy Team and Neve's Consultant Neurologist, it was decided to try and operate to remove as much of the tumour as possible with the hope of trying to reduce her seizures. Two weeks after surgery the change in Neve in such a short time was amazing, she had gone from a very sad and tired little girl into a little girl who is finally getting the chance to be a 2 yr old!

4 Months after the operation now and Neve has had no seizures at all which is something of a mirical. We have just had our follow up MRI at Great Ormond Street and are awaiting the results. Hopefully it will be all good news.

The change in Neve and us as a family has been amazing and we owe it all the the wonderful team at Great Ormond Street. climbing Kilimanjaro is my way of saying thanks.

I cannot praise the hospital enough, at what has been a very rough time, every person we have come into contact with was brilliant, Neve was staying on Koala Ward which is an amazing ward and looks after both the children and the parents.

The hospital needs to raise so much money every year in order to refurbish and build on to the existing hospital and also raise money for vital research.

Please take the time to read the following link which is a guide to the breakthroughs which have been made in Neurosciences.

Thank you so much for reading and please donate as much as you can.

Without these challenges and money raised from people taking part the hospital would not have been able to achieve everything it has to date.
