Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

Please, support our Peace Message mission from the Roof of Africa... Mt Kilimanjaro

In the last few years we have send off Messages from far and high places of the Earth in the Tibetan spirit of flying prayer flags to bring peace and harmony to all beings.

We have journeyed to five of the far corners of the Earth... Andes, Himalayas, Pacific, North Pole and South Pole And have now completed the final zone of our six-pointed 'Star of Peace'... Africa.

Our last but one peace venture was In Dec08/Jan09 when we took part in the South Pole Race and, against all the odds, survived! Then the challenge was is to collect, not only thousands of individual Peace Messages, but also one from every nation on Earth to speak out from the summit of Kilimanjaro. This was on the United Nations Day of Peace... 21st Sept 2011. We will also now speak them out in London during the 2012 Olympic Games, as a declaration of all peoples coming together in peace.

On the climb, as we were hit by altitude sickness and strove to keep our old bodies going (with no help from our bus passes!) over steep and tough terrain ... that's when we again questioned our sanity... that's when it gave us so much strength to know that, because of our struggle, kind people are donating funds to help something so worthwhile as the Tibet Relief Fund and its education programme - In particular supporting the devastated Tibetan community in Yushu which was wiped out by the earthquake last year and still needs so much help to rebuild, enabling the Tibetan culture and way of life to survive.

The Dalai Lama has said that one of the best way to assist to hold the structure of Tibet together is to to help fund schools for the basic education of young Tibetans.  This means that parents won't have to send their children out over the high mountains to try and find an education facing loneliness, frostbite and often death in the process.  It means that young Tibetans will be able to learn to read and write and have at least a 'fighting' chance of surviving in the world that they now find themselves in.  It offers hope...

We will continue to hold hope for Tibetans and their expression of peace for all beings as we face our own battles...

Please sponsor us now!
