For the past five years a group of us mainly from the ConocoPhillips Humber Refinery have completed theYorkshireThreePeaks which takes in the summits of Pen-y-ghent (694 metres - 2,276 feet), Whernside (736 metres - 2,415 feet) and Ingleborough (723 metres 2,372 feet) all in one circular route over a distance of approximately 25 miles.
Last year we managed to raise over £3000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care!
We are again taking on this challenge for the Sixth year on the 3rd of July, raising money for Portage
Portage is a service provided by N.E.Lincs council to all children aged 0-3years that are identified as having learning difficulties, e.g. Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy and autism. The service provides a dedicated support worker who will visit the child each week ( term time only ) in their home and provide specific toys and activities to stimulate their development. They also arrange regular events where all the children and parents can meet, such as sensory story sessions and a party at the end of each term where a gift is provided for each child. The council only provides funding for 2 full time members of staff. The remaining staff rely on funding from Early Years which is reviewed annually. The service has no budget for toys that they provide or for the parties and gifts, therefore they rely solely on external donations to offer these little extras as an acknowledgement of the difficulties that these children face.
