So as a Brownie Guider to celebrate our Guiding Centenary year, and as a huge personal challenge, in November I will be trekking 90 km across the Escambray Mountains of Cuba, through lush vegetation, coffee plantations and mango orchards. The terrain will vary from good open track to narrow, overgrown jungle paths and will be very steep, both up and down hill, at times.

The trek is for The Girlguiding UK Centenary Fund. The aim of this fund is to make grants to individual girls and young women aged 5-25 to help them follow their dream. Each grant will have a real impact on the life of the recipient – inspiring girls regardless of their background to learn, develop skills and of course, have fun! It will allow girls to take part in activities, small or large, that they wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to take part in, whether for example this be a local camp or an international trip to help people in other parts of the World.

I need to raise £2,500, although I would like to raise more than this so that I can also give money to The Make-A-Wish Foundation UK (registered charity No 295672). I am hoping to raise money for both charities through a variety of planned events. In addition, any online donations through this site will help me reach my target for The Girlguiding UK Centenary Fund.

Both the trek and the fundraising really is a big challenge for me, so please donate whatever you can. I really will appreciate every single penny of support.
