TWO HALF MARATHONS
TWO MONTHS
ONE CHARITY
ONE IDIOT
So... Dave’s
doing some running thing again - yeah, yeah, yeah – we’ve heard this a thousand times
before. So why bother sponsoring him?!
Because it’s a bargain, that’s why.
Two half marathons in two months, all on one sponsorship page! And boy are these half marathons worlds apart!
HEAVEN
Royal Parks Half Marathon – Sunday 10/10/10
Central London
This lush, Royal route includes rushing through Hyde Park, Green Park, St James’ Park and Victoria Embankment Gardens, plus blasting through Admiralty Arch, up Constitution Hill and desperately avoiding falling in the Serpentine. All in time for scones and tea at the end. Spiffing!
HELL
Puma Hell Runner – Saturday 27/11/10
Longmoor Camp, Hampshire
This brutal, bone-breaking route includes… well… a massive multi-terrain stumble/run through tracks, trails, water-filled bogs and a mass of sheen-covered steep hills. All at the end of November. Mud, rock, felled trees and a fight against nature at its most brutally raw. All in time to jump in a hot shower and pick the bracken out of my face. Nasty.
But what’s it for? This kind of sadistic stupidity can’t just be for fun, right? Correct! I’m running for charity. This charity.
The Make A Difference Trust - Registered charity number 1124014 Who!? Well, the Make A Difference Trust raises funds to support people facing hardship as a result of HIV, AIDS and other long-term conditions. Running for the TheatreMAD branch of the MAD Trust, funds from these two bonkers runs will help bring together the British theatre community and its audiences to increase awareness and support. It’s a top charity run by top people. Surely you can spare £3 kicking around? That’d be £1.50 a half marathon. Not even 12 pence a mile! Come on, dig a little – not even that deep – and help out a charity that deserves a little attention. TWO HALF MARATHONS TWO MONTHS ONE CHARITYONE IDIOT
Bring it on.
