Our Story:
Ok so where to start with our reason for doing this. . . . Unfortunately we have both had family members suffer and pass away from cancer. So we decided that we would not only take on this huge challenge but at the same time do what we can to support a great charity, Macmillan cancer support.
The Challenge. . .To trek 100km (yes you read that right 100km!! or 63 miles) across some of the hardest terrain in the world, the Sahara desert. We will do this starting in Morocco and trek for upto 8 hours a day in upto 40 degree heat! Not only that but at night it gets close to freezing and we're sleeping in tents. Luckily all you have to do is donate your money :-)
We need to raise at least £5,000 but hope, with your help, to exceed that.
Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. They provide practical, medical, emotional and financial support and push for better cancer care. One in three of us will get cancer. Two million of us are living with it. We are all affected by cancer.
Events so far. . .
. . . Jan 30th - 12mile walk from the Lea Rig pub in Glasgow to Ibrox Stadium and back in honour of my Uncle John who has just passed away from Cancer. Around £5,000 raised in total
Car boot sales - let us have all your unwanted xmas pressies!! Around £450 raised so far.
March 27th - 5 mile fun run in Braintree - Dale ran in a Kilt and Louise in an England shirt. Money still coming in. Thanks to Old Anchor Pub in Kelevedon for the after party and t-shirts.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
