Story

Hello,

My name is Daniel I am 21years old, I was born in ,

My mother has always been there for me and has given me everything she could with in her power. She has been suffering with Fibromyalgia now for about 7 years,

In this time I have found it really hard to understand and deal with the decline in heath which I have seen her go through.

Some days my mother can’t get out of bed, she has no energy to move or even eat properly. She can’t remember a day when she wasn’t in pain,

The kind of person I am, I look to logic to motivate me, I find it really hard to keep her morale up when I can’t offer any logical excuses for what she is going through.

Fibromyalgia isn’t well known and I think that with a bit of help we can try and understand it more and raise some awareness.

About Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition of widespread pain and profound fatigue.  The pain tends to be felt as diffuse aching or burning, often described as head to toe.  It may be worse at some times than others.  It may also change location, usually becoming more severe in parts of the body that are used most.

The fatigues ranges from feeling tired, to the exhaustion of a flu-like illness.  It may come and go and people can suddenly feel drained of all energy – as if someone just “pulled the plug”.

Besides neuropathic pain and fatigue, fibromyalgia symptoms often include –

Unrefreshing sleep – waking up tired and stiff Headaches – ranging from ordinary types to migraine Irritable bowel – alternating diarrhoea and constipation, sometimes accompanied by gas in the abdomen or nausea Cognitive disturbances including lack of concentration, temporary memory impairment and word mix up Clumsiness and dizziness Sensitivity to changes in the weather, noise, bright lights smoke and other environmental factors Allergies

Once other medical conditions have been ruled out through tests the patient’s history, diagnosis depends on two main symptoms:

pain in all four quadrants of the body for at least three months together with pain in at least 11 out of 18 tender point sites when they are pressed.

Fibromyalgia often develops after some sort of trauma that seems to act as a trigger, such as a fall or car accident, a viral infection, childbirth, an operation or an emotional event.

Me and 2 friends have arranged a trip around on our Motorbike’s

I am trying to get as much money as possible towards my charity and raise as much awareness as possible.

My trip will begin on the 10th of September and will end on the 27th in this time I plan to ride through Belgium, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia, Italy, France(Monaco) hopefully Barcelona and through France back to London. We are going to try and do this in two weeks with sleeping bags and tents, maybe the odd night in a hotel to clean.

My charity offers help people who can’t understand what they are going through and is trying to understand the problem and work towards a way of controlling it.

Fibromyalgia Association UK is a registered charity that is dedicated to raising awareness about fibromyalgia in the general public, people with fibromyalgia, the medical profession and decision makers.

We have information booklets for people with fibromyalgia, young people with fibromyalgia and medical professionals available free of charge.

We publish a monthly magazine and have over 150 local support groups registered with us.

I am just asking that people can donate some money towards an organization that is trying hard to make peoples life better,

      Thank you
