Story

Hi,

I am going to do the New York Marathon  - YIKES !!!!

I need your support - even if its only a few dollars/pounds it will be nice to know that you are with me as i feel the pain.

Not sure what possessed me to contemplate doing this, but there is no going back now.  Tickets are booked, training is now mainly over and I am on my way.  Nothing much is going  to stop me now (I hope - although i narrowly avoided a sprained ankle doing a forest run last weekend).

A number of people have asked me if I am doing this for charity, I'm not really - the main aim if for myself (for the fun supposedly).

If I can raise a little money on the way for a good cause then all the better.  Its going to be hard work, but it may help a little bit if I know that you are all behind me. I've picked Medecins Sans Frontiers (Doctors without borders - for those in the US) to run for - to help those that have been hit by the many recent natural disasters.  Since i've travelled around some of the countries in the developing world, I think that its important for me to give something back to them.

So feel free to open up those wallets and sponsor me - its  26 miles (and a bit) so bare that in mind :P    Almost all of your money goes to the charity (I'm paying for entry, flights etc, etc .  The website does take a small amount - but that's the cost of an efficient ways of fundraising. )

Thanks for your support.
