Story

Hi.

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Most of the people visiting this page will already know me but for you who don't my name is Danny Cassidy and I am running the Great North Run '07 to raise money for the Guillain-Barré Syndrome support group.  The person in the photo is my cousin Ashleigh and my reason for running.

The Guillain-Barré Syndrome support group is a charity, which is very close to my heart as my 17-year-old cousin (18 in October) has been diagnosed with the illness.

"So what is Guillain-Barré Syndrome" I hear you cry well according to Wikipedia Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is "an acute, autoimmune, polyradiculoneuropathy affecting the peripheral nervous system, usually triggered by an acute infectious process."  It is a rare disease, which can affect anybody regardless of age or lifestyle.

Guillain-Barré Syndrome is a frightening and disabling disease, which strikes suddenly, sometimes with devastating effect.  Approximately 1,500 patients a year develop the illness and notable patients include Franklin D Roosevelt & politician Tony Benn.

Please donate as much as you can as anything you can spare however small would be greatly appreciated and will be going towards a very good cause.

Your money is even more important because the charity receives no funding from the government or the national lottery.  Your money will go a long way to helping those with Guillain-Barré Syndrome as well as the families and friends of people affected by it.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Guillain-Barré Syndrome Support Group will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

thanks

Danny Cassidy
