Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania this September, if i manage to make it to the top of the Uhuru Peak (5,895 metres or 19,341 feet) then I'll arrive in the early hours of my 31st birthday on September 8th!

I've been captivated by Kili since travelling through Africa in 2009 but to be honest never really had an interest in climbing it until after I came home, I've never done anything like this before although i did trek through Parc des Volcans in Rwanda the same year up to an altitude of about 4,000 metres.

I wouldn't call myself particularly fit so I'm going to have to put in some training in the next couple of months to help prepare as best i can, there are several routes up Kili and I've chosen Machame as this is seen to be the most challenging without the need for specialist equipment and greater experience. As well as the physical barriers to overcome there is also the risk of severe altitude sickness and for this there is no training!

I'm doing the climb for me, as a personal challenge, and therefore the entire trip is paid for by me, that means that 100% of your donation will go straight to The Alzheimer's Society and help them to continue their great work- 1 in 3 of us a likely to suffer some form of Dementia in later life and there are estimated to be over 700,000 people in the UK alone suffering right now.

You can also sponsor me via text, just text DAZM99 followed by the amount you wish to donate, to 70070 eg. DAZM99 £5 and send to 70070.
