Exactly a year ago, Mel's daughter/my stepdaughter 31 year old Chanelle had a 'benign' ovarian cyst removed that measured 45cmx35cm and weighed 18 pounds - equivalent to a very large water melon! Chanelle had major surgery resulting in her sadly losing her ovary and fallopian tube. 

At the next check up, 3 weeks after surgery Chanelle and Mel walked into the consultants room and there was a Macmillan nurse sitting with the surgeon, this is when the devastating news came.

Chanelle had a very, very rare form of ovarian cancer  'Mucinous ovarian cancer' only 3% of females are affected by this, the scary thing here is that it is not detected in the usual CA-125 blood test, this CA-125 detects ovarian cancer, Chanelle had 5 CA-125 and they all came back clear.

As you can imagine, the shock and devastation to Chanelle and all of her family & friends took a huge toll.

We then found 'Ovacome' 

Ovacome is the national UK ovarian cancer charity focused on providing support and information to anyone affected by ovarian cancer. This includes people who have either been diagnosed with the disease or think that they might be at risk, as well as their friends and family and healthcare professionals.

We are a strong community of many thousands of people, all working together with the aim of reducing isolation, sharing information, promoting knowledge and supporting anyone affected by ovarian cancer.

We have over 4,000 members and each year we support around 18,000 people.  

Without this amazing charity, Mel simply would have broken, the information, understanding and warmth from everyone has been amazing, soooooo Dave is doing a bunjee jump that Mel actually won in the overcome raffle! He is the brave one and wants to raise as much money as possibly for this truly wonderful charity, please give generously!
