Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for the 2010 Great Manchester Run which I'm doing again this year for the Isaiah Trust.
Nicky & Tim who I work with started this registered charity back in 2001 to help children in Kenya orphaned by Aids and tribal conflict, surviving on their own on the streets in some of the most appalling conditions imaginable... Scavenging on rubbish tips for food, subject to all kinds of physical and sexual abuse with their only comfort a glue bottle... More info can be found on their fantastic work at www.isaiahtrust.org .
The lives that these kids endured prior to the charity beggars’ belief and as a parent myself brings tears to my eyes... But the Trust has and continues to do some amazing things for these kids... Providing outreach and rehabilitation centres to give safe havens and remedial education, setting up orphanages and foster parent programmes. Helping children get back in to the state educaion system and providing 'resource centres' for older child who have missed too much schooling to teach them a skill or trade to earn a living. The Trust is now working hard setting up farms to establish sustainable food programs as well as teaching children farming skills.
The trust has helped change the lives of so many kids but there are so many more yet to help... Please help by sponsoring me here or by making a donation via the donation page on their website and don't forget to gift aid it if you're able. Every penny raised goes direct to their aid programmes out there.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Isaiah Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
With HUGE THANKS on behalf of the kids you'll be helping!
Dave
