We help children in care and care leavers to improve their life prospects.

Story

Once again we are embarking on an epic cycle tour to raise money for The Who Cares? Trust, the charity that actively seeks to improve the lives of disadvantaged young people in care. Basically these kids are dealt a very poor deal and endure an extremely challenging life, through no fault of their own. The Who Cares? Trust can and really does make a difference to these kids lives. Please click on the WC?T link to find out more.

This year we are striking off into the Far North to ride in the region famous for the ‘Reivers’ – infamous cattle rustlers and raiders from the 13th to 16th century. Our route is a figure of eight with Kielder water near the middle, the Scottish Border at the top and Hadrian’s Wall at the bottom. We’ll start from just outside Newcastle, then we’ll cycle through Bellingham; through the wonderful Kielder Forest and alongside Kielder Water up to the Scottish border and then down towards Carlisle. We’ll return along a section of the Hadrian’s Wall cycleway and then join part of the through the to stay in Otterburn. On the last day we’ll cycle back towards the North Sea at Blyth and then down the coast via the renowned seaside resort of ; finally cycling into along the Tyne from . 200m miles in all, in just over 3 days.

This year’s route is anything but flat (except along the coast at the end)! There are some really serious hills so it will be a tough but rewarding ride to do for our deserving charity, The Who Cares? Trust.
