Jane Tomlinson CBE, comes from my family's home town of Leeds. Diagnosed with cancer, she didn't give up. During her illness she competed in many gruelling endurance events, one of them being IronMan Florida.One of Jane's motives was to show that people with a terminal prognosis can still lead an active and fruitful life and proclaimed "Death doesn't arrive with the prognosis."

On August 1st I am taking part in IronMan UK. This triathlon comprises a 2.5m / 3.9km swim, 112m / 180km Bike ride and finishes with a 26.2m / 42km run (a marathon) The maximum time allowed is 17 hours!

I have taken part in Sprint and Olympic distance triathlons over the last few years, but IronMan is the big one!

I fit training in between a busy family life and work schedule, usually early mornings and late nights

On June 27th, as part of my training I'm taking part in a 190km bike ride in Norway from Lillehammer to Oslo
