Story
Bordeaux-Paris was last staged in 1988. Dubbed the ‘Derby of the Road’, the race traditionally started at 2am, making the 600km course all the more grueling as riders had to ride through the night. This year marks two anniversaries in the history of the race; it is 25 years since the race was last run and, 50 years since the legendary Tom Simpson became the last Briton to win the race, finishing in 14 hours.
Rapha’s Bordeaux-Paris Challenge has been designed as a team relay. 25 teams of four riders will have 24 hours to complete the distance. The event will be run over the famous 600km Bordeaux-Paris route and, crucially, will be ridden through the night.
Myself and three other colleagues at Rapha have formed a team (some of whom you will recognise!) to take on this challenge to help support Ambitious about Autism The team comprises of:
Simon Huntsman – Product Director
Dave Hemming – Commercial Manager – Team Sky
Simon Frost – Supply Chain Director
Piers Thomas – Design Manager - Team Sky
