I’ve been a keen runner for decades.  Whenever I travel anywhere, whether on business or with the family on holiday, I pack my running gear and explore.  In that time I have covered many different distances over many different terrains but I have never run, or even attempted, a marathon.  I applied for the London 30 years ago and didn’t get a place, and then I got busy and put that idea to one side.  Where it stayed.  Until now!

On 23^rd April 2023 I hope to be on the starting line to run the London Marathon.  I’ve always wanted to run a marathon and the London was always my ideal. 

I’ve been very fortunate to have been given a place by Treloar’s Trust, a charity very local to where I live.  Treloar’s, in Holybourne near Alton, is a wonderful school and college that provides around the clock care, therapy, training and education to severely disabled children and young people who would otherwise miss out on basic opportunities that we all take for granted – an education and a future living independently - as much as is possible.

Why Treloar’s?  As well as being local to us, we have seen young people from our village who have attended.  But more than that, my wife, Joanne, sees almost daily the great work that Treloar’s does through her work which she loves, and that has naturally rubbed off on me.  It is a great privilege to be able to run the London raising money for this wonderful organisation.

I have a lot of miles to put in to get ready for April 23^rd and I will post details of every single run I put in over the 18-week training plan I have made.  Please keep coming back to this page and check out what I have been up to!
